- For guests arriving by Marmaray train, transfer from Tuzla station (3 km from Campus) will be provided. Service hours will be announced closer to the symposium.
Transportation and Getting Around
Marmaray suburban rail provides fast cross-city access between Tuzla (Asian side) and central Istanbul.
- Tuzla to Sirkeci (Old town): ~50 minutes
- Tuzla to Söğütlüçeşme (Kadıköy) ~ 40 minutes
Trains run every 5–10 minutes, from 6:00 to midnight on weekdays (later on weekends).
Tickets: An Istanbulkart (rechargeable travel card) is required for public transport. It can be purchased at station vending machines (English available. Cash or card accepted).
Fares:
- Standard metro/tram ride: ~₺35 (~€0.60)
- Marmaray (visitor cards): flat maximum fare ~₺60 (~€1)
Taxis and Airport Transfers
- Istanbul taxis are metered, with no airport surcharge.
- Ride-hailing apps such as BiTaksi and Uber operate citywide.
- Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW): ~15–20 minutes to Tuzla by taxi
- Istanbul Airport (IST): ~60+ minutes to Tuzla depending on the traffic. Private transfers are recommended for cost and convenience.
